Benefitting Doctors Without Borders
A m a l g a M u s i c P r e s e n t s
The recently released compilation Off the Cuff Volume 2: Rock Bizarro is a collection of unusual rock music that, despite its experimental leanings, is universally catchy. Some of the songs feature wild jazz-influenced improvisation, some feature treated vocals over a mixture of acoustic guitar and wind instruments, and still others feature panning stereo effects. They all have two things in common, however. Theyre all great music, and they all contribute to a great cause: Doctors Without Borders. This charity compilation was organized by 18-year-old Daniel Swinney, who is also a contributor as a member of the band Surfing Chickens. Swinneys affinity for unique music gave him the idea to begin the compilation series as a showcase of talented and creative musicians. Combining this noble musical cause with the charitable cause of international medical aid makes this disc a great album and an all around great idea. Bands contributing to the compilation include Giant Ant Farm, Shaking Ray Levis, CBH3, Surfing Chickens, Jimmy Stewart, Species Being, Mooter, 3 Can Sam, Silent Friction, Pitchfork Review, the Sealers, Chris Fitts, and Like Wow. The CD is priced at a low $8.99 and is available at http://www.mp3.com/offthecuff, or you can contact Daniel Swinney at dswinne@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu.
