A short improvised piece for 2 pianos, inspired by the player piano works of Conlon Nancarro. (This one was done byhand, however.) Driving rhythms contrastedby sudden sublimity induced by too muchcaffeine. A quiet ending leaves the door wide open... |

This is the first part of a large orchestral work by Jeff Alu. Very surreal, this piece features solo piano and clarinet. It is basically a battle between consonance and dissonance. You will hear very consonant harmonies continually trying to untangle themselves from the dissonant ones. It was realized using a Roland JV-1080 Sound Module, a Roland RD-500 Keyboard, and SonicFoundry Vegas Pro multitracking software. You can view a "graph" of this piece at http://www.animalu.com/graph/reach.jpg |
