Cellist, DARIUSZ SKORACZEWSKI has received many prizes including first place awards in the Young Artist String Competition in Santa Barbara, California, the Mary Graham Lasley Concerto Competition of the Alexandria Symphony and the Baltimore Music Club Competition. He was a semi finalist at the Eleventh International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and received the Gery Mois Prize at the 2001 Third International Leonard Rose Competition.
Mr. Skoraczewski was a Principal Cellist and a resident guest artist with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra during the 1996-98 Seasons. He performed as a soloist with the Montgomery Symphony, the Alexandria Symphony, the Music Academy of the West Orchestra and the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra.
Summer studies included Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Ithaca Violoncello Institute in New York, String Courses in Baden-Baden, Germany and in Lancut, Poland. Dariusz was invited twice to perform at the Gregor Piatigorsky Seminar for Cellists at USC in Los Angeles.
A native of Poland, Mr. Skoraczewski graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music where he was a student of Professor Stephen Kates. Most recently Mr. Skoraczewski won a third chair cello position with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the directorship of Maestro Yuri Temirkanov.
