Pavel Josef Vejvanovsky (1640? - 1693), a music composer of the Czech origin, lived out long years as the archbishopric Kapellmeister in Kromeriz in Moravia. During his lifetime, the
standard of music production on the Kromeriz chateau under the patronage of the Olomouc
archbishop Karl Lichtenstein-Castelcorno was outstanding. About 50 sacred music pieces of Vejvanovsky have been kept in the Kromeriz archive to this day. This first selection comprises eleven sonatas for various instruments and intradas for two clarin trumpets and kettledrums, written or collected by Vejvanovsky. |
