Just Like David is a new band from Indianapolis.
While their sound is grounded in the midwest's
rootsy/americana tradition, they have their own
distinct style and flavor. Front man, and keyboardist
Douglas Olson has played piano since age six.
Playing along with Keith Green albums was a
common after school routine. His voice is
powerful, soulful, and has a wide range. He has
also led worship for 10 years. Lead guitarist
Steve Simon has been playing in the Midwest
circuit for several years. He is an accomplished
sideman and studio musician. Both Steve and
Douglas spend a lot of time crafting Just Like
David's songs. He loves to find new sounds and
new ways to get them. "The guitar is a wild
instrument. I love to push the envelope with
what it can do." His playing is very distinctive
and skillful, drawing from his wide range of
influences from Steely Dan to Van Halen to Phil
Keaggy. Drummer Matt Kennicut comes from a
family of musicians. His father plays bass,
mother sings, and little brother plays drums as
well. "I think his dad surgically implanted a
metronome in Matt's right foot when he was a baby"
states Steve. Bassist John Koller is an accomplished
player and singer. Influenced heavily by Sting's
style and playing he feels as comfortable with a
stand up fretless as he does with his Fender 5
string. John also holds a degree in accounting
and worked for Price Waterhouse before pursuing
his true life's calling. Together they form a
talented and energetic bunch.
