Zodiacal Light is a mix of dance, drums 'n' bass, and techno. I've put it all together myself using Acid, SoundForge, Rebirth, a $10 microphone, and an old CASIO CA-110 keyboard.
My inspirations include synth-pop from the eighties (Erasure), 90s and now (Moby), super-inverted-polymeristic-tangent type music like Aphex Twin, and one of my favorite bands, The Pet Shop Boys
I originally come from a drumming background, I've been playing drums since the 7th grade and always wanted to write electronic music, but never had the equipment. I finally decided to quit waiting on the $2000 Korg and play around with my old CASIO. I've been composing for about a year now...

| A tribal/ancient greek sounding groove. Was done with the plastic tubing that Regal brushes come in. It's a foot long hollow plastic tube. It was broken, so I beat it on my hand and pulled the plastic back and let it snap for the accented sounds. There's also a shaker and bongo. The bass is my foot tapping on the floor. Some post-recording tricks made for some cool effects. | |

| This song started with me playing around with the horn-sounding voice. I recorded it, then started playing with the same-type melody on the Fantasy voice. I recorded a solo in a couple takes, then played with it in SoundForge. Then I heard the pounding chords in the song, so I added them. Then Lady X came into existence. She's a flute voice, with lots of vibrato. Played her forward and in reverse a couple times, added drums, and a bass line. | |
