Written in 1997&1998, this is the song that I always wanted to write. I
wrote the guitar part as kind of a tribute to Paul McCartney's Blackbird
from The Beatles White Album. I couldn't come up with the lyrics or the
right subject matter for this song. Then a few months later, Linda McCartney
died. I was extremely saddened by her loss. There is a song by Paul
McCartney called Golden Earth Girl that is about Linda. It describes her as
a bird that lives, sings, and flys in a heavenly type place. I listened to
that song a day or two after she died and the lyrics and the subject matter
to my "Blackbird Tribute" hit me like a ton of bricks. I wrote them down,
put the words and music together, recorded it immediately. The rest is
history. This is my tribute to Linda McCartney, thanks to a little help from
Paul. This is the recording that is on my cd Acoustic Visions.

Written in 1984. This is the first love song I had ever written. I had
fallen in love with a girl named, Laura Sering, who I eventually married in
1986. This song is about how I felt about her when she was in a relationship
with someone else. This song made her fall in love with me. It was inspired
by her saying something to me like," we will be together in heaven." It was
one of those songs that was completely written in one night. Then I
immediately made a recording of it. That recording is the exact same version
that I play to this day. In 1987 Laura and I went our separate ways, and
this song was literally retired for about 14 years. In July 1996 an old
girlfriend from my youth was murdered in Kansas City, M.O. Her name was Lisa
Reynolds. I was very close to her from the age of 12 to 15. She was the
first girl I really used to sing to. She literally worshiped my talent and
truly loved to hear me sing. I loved her dearly. We went our separate ways
into high school. Then in 1987 I met up with her and we had a reunion type
week together then we went our separate ways, again. I have written a couple
of songs about her and even one of them was sent to her just a few months
before her death. Her loss has had a strong effect on me. Then when I was
rehearsing songs for my comeback in 2001, I decided to redo this song for
her. At all of my performances, I personally dedicate this song to her. When
I play or listen to this song, it now only relates to her. She was the first
to really believe in me. And on the night of Oct. 27th, 2001, this live
recording that is on my cd Acoustic Visions, was dedicated to her.
