The Wampus Cats are back! After a ten-year hiatus, th band has put together a CD of some re-discoverd originals. In addition, the CD includes some new material by song-writers John Marshall Carter and Ron Martin. Check out the Wampus Cats' new CD entitled "WHEN WE WASN'T FAB."THE WAMPUS CATS. The Wampus Cats are an eclectic music band emphasizing original songs. Most of their material was inspired by the environment in which they grew up--Leaksville, North Carolina.
Their theme song, "The Wampus Cat Song", was inspired by the legend of the WAMPUS CAT, a creature that allegedly lives in the Dan River which flows through Leaksville, North Carolina. There have been many sightings of the creature over the centuries. Some fishermen even claim to have hooked the fabled creature; nonetheless, none of them ever managed to land the WAMPUS CAT.

This is POP?
This is more country. Definitely NOT pop. It's all very basic. I can't really comment on the drums and guitars because they are just basic. The vocals fit the music. It's almost hillbilly in a way. I can see people sittin on their broken down porch drinking bottles of Boone's Farm.

"Boot Scootin'.."
This is a boot scootin' little tune if I've ever heard one.I like the lyrics.I't a really feel good kinda song-I usually HATE this kinda music(that's the last thing you guys would wanna hear right now),but I have to put things into perspective. For the style and category that this song is "filed under" it's excellent in its' own right.I don't like the distortion on the guitar,(bridge),but the notes and run-down are good and the drummer, although he didn't stand out as well as he could have, did pretty good! As I stated in my "snappy headline",the harmonies were great, and I got a kick outta the lyrics! Thanks guys, -Birgitta Lindsey- By the way,I listened to your song 3 times....(that's a first)-

Country barn dance
Yee haw! This has a country barn dance feel. Not bad for the style (not my thing though). Not really what I consider pop. The vocals are good, guitars are fine. Drums sound ok too. This has a fun feel but I'm confused about the strange sound effects at the very beginning and at the end - not sure what this has to with the rest of the song... The recording quality is a bit muffled, but sounds ok otherwise. Not bad!

Positive thoughts.
reminds me of Buddy Holly. Lead guitar riffs could have been a bit louder. Nice mood/melody. drums just fine.

Soggy Bottom Boys?
Country pop? Interesting that you would put this in Pop. Catchy little tune, vocal performance is great, like the old school production quality.

Very peppy bluegrass/celtic/country type diddy...
Pretty fun tune...I listen to a band called the Pogues and it sounds like a celtic rock style tune. I like it a lot..Good production. The vocal harmonies are quite good. The acoustic guitar and drums are on time as well. I can't really hear the guitars to well because of the Real Player stream but sounds like a country style lead. My only 2 thoughts are that the songs needs a bridge part to give the listener a break. Also, could use a better lead in. I listened to it twice. Keep going. I would actually like to listen to more of your stuff.

4:4 and 3:4
The song had an interesting feel. It made me think of a twisted sort of merry-go-round. I liked the lead singer's voice, it had a pleasant tone to it and it blended well with the harmonies. The lyrics seemed to fit the overall mood well also (please note that I normally listen to the sound of lyrics rather than what lyrics actually say or mean). I liked how the song drove forward when you were in 4:4 time. I did think the time change was distracting, however.

don't need to say it
i won't even mention the beatles...this is a good pop song though. nice rhythm change at 1:15 - i thought the solo acoustic guitar part was a little loud and didn't really add too much - but it could just be the real audio version, so i could be wrong.

Talented Musicians - Bog Standard Country Song
It's a country number straight away - no doubt about that - not Pop - should be in the country genre. The lyrics are also immediately country styled (riverside, fish etc). Anyway it sounds good and everything is being played well although everything is a cliche - very standard stereotyped country blues stuff. Nice solo and it arrives nice and early too. Use of down by the riverside isn't original but because you only use it once only in the chorus lyric it's enough to grab attention through its familiarity so perhaps a useful tool - after all you can't copyright a song title. The ending was silly - you shouldn't have gone for the high vocal note and all that special effect and overdriven guitar was ineffective and inappropriate - since you have stereotyped everything else here it sounds silly to have an off the wall ending - a single bar turn around (2-5-1 prog) ideally on a fast plucking banjo alone prior to the last chord hit on the tonic from everyone would be a much better way to end. Very good overall, but I can't give you more than an average mark because I can't see this ever getting anywhere near the Pop charts.
