Brainfade was originally formed in January 1991 by the inspired guitarist Manolis Mamas.During that period the band had adopted a style mainly influenced by thrash metal bands like Anthrax and Testament. The band appeared in some live shows from January until November 1991 when the long and inevitable-in Hellas-military service of most members interrupted the band’s activities.Brainfade resumed action in April 1993 with a new line-up and more live performances all over the country having adopted a more power-speed metal style.
In September 1994 the band, finally, recorded their first demo-tape entitled “AT LAST” containing the songs ”Realms Of Nightmare”,Act Of Violence” and “Brainfade” which was warmly welcomed by both fans and magazines.Live performances continued making Brainfade a highly-reputed band among fans, mainly due to its powerful songs and its sensational performance on stage. However, that was also the period during which the band’s line-up sustained successive changes.
After some hard times,Brainfade managed to record a self-financed, 2-track cd entitled “BRAINFADE-PROMO’96”,containing the songs “Under The Holly Grave” and ”Rebel Within”. This promo-cd was exlusively addressed to record labels as a means of acquaintance with the band’s music.
Despite some more changes in the band’s line-up,Brainfade went on with more live performances and currently recorded a new track entitled “The Book Of Blood” released in compilations in Hellas and Japan. .Now,more than ever before, the band has the power and the determination to fulfill its ambitions and live up to the expectations of the fans.
Brainfade’s current line-up is:
Manolis Mamas : Rhythm guitars
Stavros Bonikos : Lead and rhythm guitars
Thanassis Houliaras : Vocals
Thodoris Mpiras : Bass guitar
Kostas Farmakis : Drums
