The music mirrors a turbulent century, from a short dull introduction (portraying greyness), onto a waltz (a taste of tradition), soothing acoustic guitar rudely interrupted by a loud orchestra (for World Wars I/II) before ending with a cold distant church bell. |

My grandad, Adam Epler, wrote this song. It won 2nd place in the Poland's National Song Contest in 1934. Although my mum had saved the music, she had never heard it before, so I arranged it and gave it to her as a 70th birthday gift on Sept 4th, 2002. Note that my mum had not seen her dad in 60 years as he had gone missing at the onset of WWII... |
