A traditional folk song accompanied on old-time 5-string banjo. This tragic tale mourns the fate of a misguided youth and his unfortunate love. In the days before mass media, entertainment was usually the music, songs and dances that you created yourself. Many songs were gruesome tales intended to excite and horrify the audience who knew exactly what was coming. In this sad tale, following his father's advice, the young man poisons, stabs and finally drowns his love. The gallows is his reward! |

This is a simple banjo tune, a lot like the traditional Sally Anne. Just doodling on the banjo, a summer evening on the back porch. |

This is a lilting clawhammer banjo ditty in celebration of the "new" 1908 Bacon banjo that just arrived at my home. |
