A romantic piece of enduring love and commitment. David Russell, formerly with Box Car Willie, filled in for longtime player Linda Joseph who had broken her wrist the day before the sessions. Now a session musician in Nashville, he did a top-rate job, flat out.

An all too familiar tale of the junior-high wallflower beautifully illustrated with a 50s type calypso beat and waltzing chorus. Musically, a sort of country version of "Under the Boardwalk". Lyrically, a Norman Rockwell print come to life.

A song of death, rebirth and hope and a stunning finale to the CD featuring Art Labriola on piano. Mark first met Art through the late Tom Pomposello and had the great fortune of touring with the two of them in Europe. Art and Tom founded the New York based studio band, Oil Can, also featured on mp3. Check it out. |

The title cut of a collection of my wife's favorite love songs and the first love song I wrote for her. It seemed the fitting one to start the CD with.

(Miss Rebecca) A lot of people have asked me if this was inspired by Tom Sawyer and his girlfriend, Rebecca. It had absolutely nothing to do with it. Pure coincidence. |

Agnes was my grandmother. She died when I was 10. Like the song says, "colors shattered like bits of glass leaving my mended stained-glass heart." I still miss her. |

This recording features the late, great Tom Pomposello on bottle-neck
guitar. Tom was a protege of Mississippi Fred McDowell and played bass for him
for years and went on to become a great bottle-neck blues player in his own
right. Tom produced this session and we really had a good time cutting this
one. Cooked! |
