    stimulus 'a motion signal' CD/DLP

One of the most interesting bands to emerge out of the English electronic scene. Hypnotic beats interwoven between grand piano, drum, bowed cymbal (and many other instruments), and guitar so loaded with effect pedals they can dim the lights in a city when they play live.
    Alternative Press-
A tight knit hybrid of experimental and progressive music.
Repetitious tonalities (croaking textures, tempered guitars, sparse, resonant bass) drive Inertia, into a sand blasted piano denouement, introducing one to the taut, kinesthetic dynamics utilized by Stimulus. Each track is constructed around repetitious cadences upon which disparate textures twitch and spasm. The muffled, steel wool scrubbed, looped rhythmic impetus of the hypnotic Concrete Bridge To Void is shattered as agitated streaks of fluorescent light hover and screech like flaming electronic pterodactyls. Though they utilize a love of "Nurse With Wound, '70's Italian Prog, Iron Maiden & field recordings" as inspiration, Stimulus move well beyond, exploring sonic territories uniquely their own. -JC Smith- alternative press first 100 come with a bonus disk and a metal object.

'A Motion Signal' DLP spent 2 weeks at number 3 in Japan for electronica sales, September 1-13, 2001.

    stimulus 'a programme music' 10" Lactamase06
The third installment in the Lactamase series of 10". This shows two sides of this English project, the first being more rhythmic electronic music, though by no means faceless techno, while the second side features a 12 minute soundtrack type piece. The Wire recently wrote, and vol. 3 showcases the bleak electronica of stimulus's 'programme music' (mt023 10"), which sounds like torococo rot nodding out at the wheel.”
Epiphany strikes in the strangest places. Sometimes it is delivered from on high and sometimes it wells up from the toilets. Like an inexplicable evening out with friends at a vapid local techno/house club, only to end up in the bathroom and find hidden magic (independent of the nefarious reasons for being there in the first place). The enclosed room acts as a filter and soon the hum of the fluorescents and the click of the sink mix with echo and the distant beats, creating unexpected godhead experimental techno soundtrack soliloquy for the substance abused psyche. If only to be able to record such beautiful random moments of brilliance. Well, Stimulus provide such an experience without the use of a bathroom or a vapid techno club. Strange little electro-psychedelic minimalist beatscapes that are guaranteed to en-trance any room in the house or RV . The slow building hum of "Transference" is especially
