Queenie writes the review:"NEW REVIEW: An avant-garde piece of jazz for piano, bass, and female vocal. This piece is very out there and will remind you of No Doubt for two reasons: 1. Seka's reedy, plaintive female vocal and 2. The influence of punk rock music stylings. The most enjoyable part of this piece is probably the meandering, dissonant piano. It wanders from section to section, but repetition is able to create a valid jazz structure that is oddly original. The songs strengths lie in within its jazz elements. Vocally and melodically, Game Over is a little disappointing, because the sophistication of the winding piano harmonies is unmatched by the vocals which carry the whiny affectation of Gwen Stefani. In the future, my instincts lead me to suggest that Seka draws as little from Stefani's style as possible, letting her own natural vocal intonations override any impulses to sound like what is currently popular. Overall, a good jazz piece because of its uniqueness and originality." |
