“Soul Captain”, was written by Shades of Grey's Bass player (Brian Konicki) two years prior to Timothy McVeighs Execution. It was Inspired by a poem written in the mid 1800's by William Ernest Henley entitled "INVICTUS." It was an unusual coincidence that on the day the band finished recording it, Timothy McVeigh was put do death by lethal injection at a prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. His last issued statement was the first four paragraphs of the poem “Invictus.”
