NEW Release - 'Birds come Back' - Evenings at the Microscope

"Birds come Back" was born of an an effort to simplify.

Looking around the studio there were certain pieces of gear that I came to realize were being largely ignored... My old DX7, a Roland D110, Korg Micro-preset, Emulator II, and a Novation Bassstation. (Not that these are terrible pieces of kit... it's just that you're not really likely to turn to the D110 if you've got a Nord Lead 3 sitting there.) So I decided to sell them off, time to trim the fat.

Problem is, one develops a certain fondness for their artistic tools.. and this holds especially true of ones first instruments. It doesn't help that the said items are practically worthless on the second hand market.

So I separated them into a simple studio setup of their own, to test prior to selling, and became engaged.

These instruments have a unique charm. They don't sound polished and refined. They're all a bit noisy, some are a bit tired... some do only one thing well, or several things not well at all. They're not old enough to be cool, and not new enough to be usefull. In that they sound honest.. the sound of something effortlessly being only what it is. Not clever, Not shiny.

Sometimes It's nice to work like that.
