Dear listeners,

Polyhymnia is a vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to bringing new life into the Viennese classical scene. We cover the whole range from Renaissance to contemporary classical music, always striving to find the fitting instrumentation and vocal sound for the repertoire we perform: this means taking a historically-informed approach wherever possible, one which is tempered by our musical judgement and fired by the enthusiasm and energy of our musicians. The ensemble's leadership is shared by the conductor Gottfried Lehrer and the well-known organist, harpsichordist and pianist Thomas Schmögner -- depending on the repertoire being performed, one or the other of them assumes the leadership role. Over the next month, we will be uploading parts of our recent recordings of sacred music by Haydn, Mozart and Rossini for your enjoyment. Please feel free to contact us with any and all inquiries.

Please note: the Rossini is a live recording, so the occasional cough, shuffling of feet, rustling of music paper, and chiming of the church clock you might hear are all part of the excitement!
