MUSIC STEW CD BIO
I got my first guitar for Christmas when I was six or seven years old. It was a white plastic guitar with a black pick guard. I used to take it to school and play Johnny Cash songs for my second grade classmates. I knew all the words to the songs I sang, but did not know how to play guitar. All through school till the day I graduated, many of my classmates thought I could play. I didn’t learn how to play guitar until after I joined the U.S.C.G. I took lessons for a while, while stationed in N.J. Once my tour of duty was up, I didn’t really play much for the next few years, instead concentrating on building an unrelated career and writing songs.
I did play in a rock band for a month or two and a country band for a while. The rock band members could not keep egos in check long enough to make a go of it. The country bandleader told me I was too loud and too rock and roll for his taste.
I did a solo benefit concert in 1993 for the American Cancer Society. It was a small (acoustic) show by plan, and a success according to all that attended. That very night I met my wife, hence the song “Heaven will have to wait” on my Music Stew CD. I have continued to be a solo artist by choice. Influences include the older country music, 70’s rock such as KISS, Led Zep etc, the disco era, all of the 80’s rock such as the Scorpions, Springsteen and some of today’s pop/country/rock.
I’ve written a number of songs and at my wife’s insistence, purchased the equipment to begin to get my songs recorded. With a lot of help and technical advice from my friend, Huey Falls and my wife’s computer knowledge (website), and office expertise, I have made the best c.d. I can on a very small budget. I hope you enjoy it and thank – you for taking the time to visit my site.
