Here's a cut from Rent Party's unreleased second album sessions. This was a gift from the heavens in that we nailed it with the first take, live. Remember how rock was once recorded? This creepy urban ditty is the story of Rockin' Dave, his roach problem, and our hero the lizrd. |

Crunchy little guitar/bass/B3/drums instrumental(with a sampled Balinese gangsa in the bridge), with nods to Zappa and Zep, apparently. This was cut and mixed at Mike Birnbaum's Applehead studio in Woodstock, NY, in its second incarnation. Mike recorded it, I mixed it, with Sean Green ably assisting (2" 24 track at 15 ips w/ Dolby SR is my favorite format for rock). Really nice contributions by Mike B (all guitars) and skins man extraordinaire Matt Chamberlain (post Edie Brickell/pre Critters Buggin', etc.). |
