Chicago-based
guitarist, Gary Packard,
draws influence from a wide variety of genre.
"No artist can really nail it down to one influence",
he says.
"My writing is influenced by everything that I hear ---
incidents that I see and experience. My observations run through
a subconscious filter, then resurface in social commentary. But
I consider myself a music composer first --- the lyrics just 'sort of happen' ".
TAMING THE TERROR is Gary's
first collaborative project with veteran engineer and jazz musician,
George Belle. The ten-track recording encompasses jazz, rock,
folk and an eclectic range of musical styles. From instrumentals
to lyrical treatments of the human condition, Gary Packard intertwines
soulful guitar with traditional jazz composition.
