Music, instruments and literature from three continents and eight centuries have found their way to Victoria, in the hands, hearts, and voices of Banquo, a local ensemble playing folk & early music from many lands and times.

Banquo performs in historical costume, playing songs, dances and airs from the British Isles and far beyond. Banquo draws from the musical traditions of Europe, the Middle East, and North America, from the 12th Century to the present day.

The members collectively play over 20 instruments, including harps, bagpipes, winds of all kinds, strings, and varied percussion. This group has been over 800 years in the making!

Another free download from our Centennial Square ep. We loved what the sound people did to us on this tune - you would never guess that the percussion is a bodhran! *Re-mastered December 05, 2001

One of our most popular tunes - A broadside ballad from the 17th Century which describes some of the political turmoil in England at the time. The melody is also known as Nonesuch, which appeared in John Playford's 'English Dancing Master.'
