We expect the Cafe to grow quickly so make sure you visit regularly. If you've got something you think might go well here, don't hesitate to contact us. While you're here, why not Back the Band and help ensure that we are able to keep bringing you new music regularly. I'm sure all the artists represented here would very much appreciate it. NEWS: Katyusha have just finished their CD and will be offering it for sale in the next week or so. So keep your eyes open for it! OUR ARTISTS Katyusha are 5 guys who play funky traditional and original folk music. Their tunes comes from most countries of the world, mixing Albanian dances alongside Danish ditties and French frolics with Israeli Bluegrass. If you'd like to know more about Katyusha or see some pics of them in action, why not visit their website. Ruth and Kate are Australia's hottest young female folkies. This is what Andy Irvine had to say about them - "It takes rather a lot, these days, to stir my cynical old emotions but I was as excited by [their] concert as I have been for years. And the CD is every bit as good as the live concert! I know that these two talented young singers and musicians will charm their audiences wherever they go--as they have charmed me." Tribe is a mixture of musicians who have come together to record David Pendragon's Pagan and Celtic influenced compositions. With a fusion of world traditions that have been compared to Deep Forest, Tribe is lush and smooth and great listening for those that like their World Music a little more laid back. Nigel McLaughlin's tunes blend a wide variety of traditions into Electronic and Accoustic mediums. The World Music Cafe is lucky enough to have several tunes from his Princess Oko album and will shortly be adding more of the trancey and mysterious Lemurian Dances. Horses Leotard play Old Timey tunes and Closet Klezma play Klezma tunes. These two bands contain Ruth (from Ruth and Kate) and Mick (Katyusha) as well as assorted other musicians from Canberra, Australia.
