I would like to thank you for visiting my website, even if you are here by accident :- ). Either way I invite you to inspect my piano wares. My name is David S., I am 19 years old and I'm majoring in History at beautiful McGill University in Montreal. I have been playing piano for almost two years now. In case you couldn't tell by my repertoire (by the end of the summer, I will know 17 pretty difficult songs), I have been working at this stuff pretty hard these past two years. I started Sept. 9th, 2000 when our family got a piano and I have been completely self-taught until about July. I love to play piano more than almost anything, which becomes a bit cumbersome when I have to decide between going out and spending money or playing piano and not spending any. Now let me take a moment to tell you about the songs I play. All the songs up here are songs that I absolutely love to listen to, and thus could not resist learning them so I could put my own spin on them (oh and I should take this time to mention, the songs that say Sarah before them are courtesy of my piano-buddy Sarah who is quite talented herself. My brother played all the Satie stuff on here, I highly recommend checking all that stuff out. It's worth your time!). Since I am relatively new at this whole piano thing, I would love to hear comments, criticisms, or ideas for how to improve any of my songs (esp. the Rachmaninoff and the Chopin.) Coolness@prontomail.com All of my music on here was taped at home on the first try. Thats kinda cool isnt it? All the music on here is how I would sound if I sat down on any ordinary piano on a pretty good day and played a song for you. Except for cutting and pasting a bit of Horowitz into the parts I screwed up (just kidding), this is exactly how I sound. Take the time to appreciate these songs, even if not played by me they are worth a listen, and if you have any ideas for improvement of my music, I would love to hear them (again coolness@prontomail.com) Enjoy, David S.

I don't think I will ever forget the day I first figured out how do triplets over quadruplets. Let me tell you, teaching yourself piano is a pain in the ass when it comes to this stuff. I love this song, it's hard as hell, the harmonies rule, and it's just a classic Chopin piece of music. Oh yea, and one thing that gets me is that, according to the title, Chopin made this piece up impromptu. He just sat down and played a 4/3 song that's this freaking complex? Good lord, just more proof, if you ever needed it, that Chopin is the man. Enjoy.

There are only two things I can really say about this song: First, this song rules. No two ways about it. I love to listen to it, and that's why I've worked so hard to learn how to play it. Second thing is that this song is hard as hell, it's taken me four months to play it with any level of decency at all. But it is a testimate to how much I like this song that I have voluntarily learned this song when I could learn Fur Elise. Check it out, my fellow internet browsers, even if I'm not the pianist (but hopefully when I'm the pianist).

This is an impromptu based on a previously composed theme and chord progression. Me (David S.) and my sister Anne recorded it July 2002.
