    Bio
    Simon Lapointe started playing violin at age four in 1983 and was admitted at the Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières with Marie Doré in 1989. He then studied with Helmut Lipsky, Francine Dufour and Johanne Pothier, with whom he obtained his Diplôme d'Études Supérieures I. He also participated in many masterclasses with Pavel Vernikov, Boris Garlistky, Christian Ivaldi, Peter Csaba, Paul Roczek and the Juilliard String Quartet.
    Mr. Lapointe has been awarded by numerous organisations, such as the Rotary Club of Trois-Rivières, the Club Richelieu of Drummondville, and the City of Drummondville. He also participated to many musical events, like the 1997 National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the 1998 Gubbio Festival, for chamber music recitals.
    Simon Lapointe has won many prizes, including the Concours de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivières (1995) and the Canadian Music Competition (1997 solo; 1998 chamber music). He is regularly invited by the Orchestre du Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières, and the Trois-Rivières and Drummondville Symphony Orchestras. He also played recitals in Baltimore, Toronto, Ottawa, Drummondville and Trois-Rivières.
    Mr. Lapointe is currently studying with Martin Beaver at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore where he also serves as Assistant Principal in the Peabody Symphony Orchestra. He plays a violin by Jacques Martel.
