The Blues are all about sharing... and that is where the idea of
the Blues In The Schools program came from. The members and
musicians of the Greater Cincinnati Blues Society decided that they
wanted to share The Blues (the good kind that make you tap your
feet) with a new generation. Since its beginning in 1998, the
program has seen amazing growth, with over 1500 students in 20-odd schools enjoying performances and discussions by local blues
musicians in 2001 -- all for free. The Blues are a uniqely American
music, and to better understand The Blues is to better understand
America. Some students even receive free music lessons and the
opportunity to play at the annual Blues Festival sponsored by the
Greater Cincinnati Blues Society.
This CD is another step in the efforts to give a new generation
The Blues. All the music, production and design has been donated
at no cost to the program or to the schools. It is a labor of love.
We hope you will agree that the music represents some of the
finest Blues being played today.
Thanks to all the Musicians who donated music!!!
If you are a teacher, we hope it will help you and your students
learn about The Blues. If you're a fan, we hope you enjoy the cd and
the knowledge that all the proceeds of the purchase went to support
the Blues in the Schools Program.
