"I Keep Reachin'" was written and recorded by Doug Koempel for the 1990 Memory Brothers' album entitled "Waiting For Your Love." That version had a little harder edge than this version which was rerecorded for a 1993 Memory Brothers' album entitled "Somebody's Searchin'." The producer of this album requested that Doug re-record this song with more of an "easy listening" style to suit the overall character of the "Somebody's Searchin'" project. The original was done completely on a synthesizer (Korg M-1) and drum machine (Alesis HR-16) with electric guitar overdub. For the new version, Doug brought in REAL musicians! The instrumentation was electric guitar, piano, synthesizer, background vocalists and bass. The drums are actually an Alesis SR-16, but I'm sure you'll agree they sound amazingly real! |
