Lacrimae Rerum is one movement of a projected 3-movement suite written for solo piano. This four-minute work explores and extends certain musical ideas associated with Impressionism through coloristic language, ornamented melodic writing, and wave-like rhythmic pulsation. The emotive qualities of this material may evoke a range of imagery associated with such common human themes as hope, loss, reconciliation, and remembrance. |
