Eric "Smidi" Smith was born 27 January 1960, in Covington Kentucky. He began playing drums at eight years old. Eric became interested in playing the guitar at 10. His sister Renee Smith, whom he gives a lot of credit, taught him everything he knows about music.
Smidi graduated from Holmes High School 1978. During his high school years, Eric joined the guitar club as his elective. He played in his hometown band called Split Decision. They played in local clubs and special community events.
Smidi recorded his first 45 single ( Big City Disease) in 1977 with his cousin Darryl Huddleston. The same year Smidi audition and became the Bass guitar player for Cincinnati's #1 rated band "The Mighty Python Band and Show" In 1978 the group recorded their first 12inch LP with the living ledgen Charles Spurling.
In 1981, Smidi was frustrated with the management of the band, so he joined the United States Air Force. Eric hoped to be stationed anywhere in California for a 4 year hitch only. He thought he would have an opportunity to network with the LA superstars.
Eric completed 20 years of active military service in pursuit of a musical career. He retired 2001 as an E-6 Technical Sergeant.
Eric toured as lead guitarist for the Air Force "Tops N Blue" 1982-83. He was exposed to various musical styles while deployed to several obscure remote locations throughout the world.
Currently Smidi is working in Las Vegas Nv. as a producer/songwriter and arranger. He creates various musical styles to include Pop, R&B, Rap, Gospel, Blues and Jazz.
Smidi has collaborated and produced music for platinum artist i.e. Spice 1, Leon Haywood, Jay King, New Birth and Klimax to name some.
