*Letter's from Real Fans with Dishpan Hands*
Hey, Art (you don't mind if I call you Art, right?). My name is Samuel Wallerstein and I live in Seattle. A couple of friends of mine, along with myself, were sitting around drinking coffee on a rainy day and we were
discussing the legitimacy of music as an art form. You see, my friends believe that anything that is created for the masses (i.e. magazine illustrations, advertisements and/or music) is akin to design, and is therefore not art. I,
on the other hand, am of the opinion that music is in fact an art form as itexpresses the personal opinions of the artist who created it and only afterwards is it released into the public forum. To prove my point, we randomly selected an artist from the slew of artists on mp3.com... and it just
so happened that we landed on your site. After listening to the songs we all became very confused. Since there is apparently no emotion or personal reflection whatsoever in any of your songs and because nobody else in there
right mind would ever listen to this garbage we are left with the fact that your music falls into the category of neither art or design. Do you consider yourself an artist that transcends all boundaries of artist expression, or are
you just really bad at what you do? Please, let me know. Sincerely - Samuel Wallerstein
Samuel... (you don't mind if I call you Sammy, right?) First off Sammy let me say that I'm so happy you like to get together with your freinds at those trendy little Internet bars and drink coffee. I mean what could be hipper. At least thats what I'm assuming. I'd hate to think that you and your friends sit in your own homes drinking coffee... how drab. But I'm sure your the hip kind so I'll try to field your question.
Do I consider myself an artist that transcends all boundaries of artist expression, or am I just really bad at what I do? Hmm that is a tough one. Well Sammy I'd have to say no. Hope that helps you out. If you have anymore questions, like whether you should get chocolate sprinkles or cinnamonon on your Mocca-Chino let me know. Much Love - Arthur P.
