Ray Reyes is a rare gem.
These compositions atest to his search for memorable "impressions" in music; it's hard not to visualize a scene while under their spell. These cinematic moods' natural application is in film.
After having dominated the guitar, (you won't get him to turn down by handing him a piece of sheet music...), he taught himself piano. Then he took on vocals, which he laces into his narrative compositions performed by his band,
Weird Tales. In that act, he sings lead, plays multiple keys, and shreds on his guitar all at the same time...
Originally from NY, Ray came to LA in the late eighties. He's played with his mentor, Keith Emerson of ELP, among many, many more of the renown masters of "impressionism".
