What is music? The goal of music, I believe, is to master the auditory perception of time. Music is not like a picture, although it can inspire many pictures in one's mind, it has a definite beginning and end. Once you've mastered time, you can transport the listener anywhere they wish to go, or try to get them to go places you've only been in your mind. It's like a philosophy. Music is about thoughts... ideas... feelings... communicated in a way that invokes new meaning when compared to traditional language. Music speaks to the part of you that some might call a soul.
The music I have prepared for you here is designed to take you on a journey. It encapsulates how I see the world. I want you to pick a selection from below, close your eyes, and listen. See where it takes you. Get up and dance. Fall asleep. Take a ride.... who knows what will happen...
What's going on? Here's the news!

To celebrate over 1,000 plays, I've been working on a special 2003 release of "Indian Sunset", which I originally wrote about 4 years ago. This version is a combination of many different styles - r&b, electronica and traditional instrumentation, but the song's original feel remains the same. Also I'm working on another more upbeat track called "Cookies from the sky". They'll both be online... before the end of the year :)

During the past few days I've been working on remastering "I'm So Close" and "My Love" - I just wasn't happy with their sound. I finished both today, and deleted the old copies from the page. The new versions have already been uploaded and will be online soon. There's also a new song already in the approval process. It's called "Ubiquitous Existence. It has a good groove to it, and it'll make you want to dance. Should be online in a couple of days.

What to say? I think Mr.Christie himself would be proud. This song is about big cities and small towns. And cookies. You'll have to hear it for yourself to understand.

This is a song I wrote for the piano quite a number of months ago, but until recently I didn't have any plans to record it in any way. It's slow, classical-accoustic (piano, strings, oboe, etc - no synth intstruments) featuring me playing the irish flute live. It would make good un-winding or "easy listening" music. In time I might make an ambient mix of this one... we'll see. This version is updated from the original I released on mp3.com - I'm actually very pleased with the way this one turned out :) |
