Establishment X was recorded in 1985 by Mike Rinzel and Mark Rinzel.
On two separate component tape decks, Mike -- then aged 15 -- overdubbed multiple tracks of Drums, Casio, Electric Guitar and 4-string acoustic, while younger brother Mark -- then aged 11 -- screamed punk lyrics to come up with a weird blend of joke and serious playing.
Establishment X recorded an album's worth of disturbing little suburban anti-anthems. Songs, such as "Playground Problems," "Homework" and "He Can't Find a Date" as well as the interstitial story line of the Rinzel's alter-egos, Hector and Eugene, portrayed what the Rinzel brothers saw as neo-facist tendencies of teachers (and students) in the mid-80s, Reagan-era DC suburbia.
The Establishment X tapes were duped and DYI distributed among several schools in Rockville and Wheaton, Maryland during '85, achieving a minor cult imprint there. Resurfacing 16 years later these recordings demostrate a much needed creative outlet for the two brothers.
Both Mike and Mark still play shows together in New York City as the Bros. Rinzel, however they sound quite different now. They're last big band together was Poolsville which you can visit on MP3.com as well.

The narrator is a very angry 12 year old boy. Features 11 yo Mark on vocal and casio, Mike did the rest. |
