This song starts out with a truly wicked guitar riff. The vocalist is a very gifted, creative individual, a much needed kick in the ass to todays crop of overly induldgent Creed wannabes that dominate the alternative airwaves. Although this is alternative, I do believe I hear a nice pinch of Black Sabbath in there. Particularly in the gutars, the song structure, and maybe even in some of the vocal approach. With that said, these guys are not clones, and are excellant musicians. They deserve attention!

Hitbound! This tune reminds me of a group I used to blow up on stage called Malice - I used to do live pyrotechnics for them. Great breaks to start and strong beats kick through to the verses. I like the vocals on this one a lot. Best vocals on the page. Nice change in the middle - cool harmonies come out of the solo. Radio ready rock.

"Crisco Fever" is a funkadelic extravaganza of sound. The drums and bass create a tight groove, and perfect foundation, that drives this song from start to finish. The guitar playing demonstrates superb understanding of both technique and feel, the groovy hammond organ completes the instrumental line-up. The vocals are the icing on this musical cake and I recommend everyone to take a bite and have a listen.

Stereo Serenade" is definitely the Rock Arena Anthem of the Year. The underlying energy in this song is out of this world. I can see the crowds in the mosh pit going crazy cheering and screaming at the end of this song. I think this song could be a chart topper and I think this band should be signed right away.

For a little more POP influenced side to PFTW listen to "Something Bigger".
There is an honest and optimistic approach to this song wrapped with
candy crunchy guitar, BIG beefy bass, playful percussion drive, and
uplifting vocal delivery - GOD this is good!

The song immediately puts me in mind of early Who, especially the vocal energy. PFTW have developed a fresh sound of their own but are not afraid to let their influences shine through. They are confident and that confidence transforms into a tight rocking outfit!

"Great rock music often starts with a great riff. "Gleam" by Poised for the Worm is driven by several punchy riffs, delivered with a great performance by the band. The guitars have a nicely distorted density and the many quick stops accent the band's interplay. The guitars and vocals are reminiscent of hard rock music from the late seventies, particularly Uriah Heep, Head East, and Triumph. Luckily, great rock is timeless and Poised for the Worm prove that they are poised to deliver the goods. "Gleam" is a rocker, with excellent lyrics, that really gleams, and outshines most of the hard rock of the last several years." -- grayotis |
