"The Cow Song" was written in Denmark on a small
tour bus. The bus was a former ambulance van from the
Dutch army. The song began trying to express the idea
of forgetting really simple things like how to spell
the word "hole or "there" or in this case wondering
what in the world the meaning of the phrase "Till the
cows come home" was. You know it but in a certain
instance the concept just seems so far away. From
there it was just...lemme rhyme with cow.
The song "When the Well Runs Dry" was recorded by
a former incarnation of the Hugh Pool Band. It is 1 of
5 songs recorded in an old house in upstate NY. The
group of songs was meant to be a follow up EP to
Hugh's CD "Spirits Treat Me Gently", but one thing led
to another and that EP never materialized. This track
was written under the influence of Tony Joe White and
is a series of recollections from Hugh's childhood
which was spent on a farm in western PA.
