I played this track to open my set at 1:00am on New Year's Day. It started as a song and ended up as three songs in one continuous 15:45 minute mix. It begins as a progressive track and slowly eases into the realm of tech house and then tribal techno. The gratification of playing it on a large system at a party on the first day of the New Year in downtown San Diego was better than I could've imagined. I used a wide variety of sounds and plug-ins. All original tracks were sequenced in Fruity Loops Pro 3.56. The NI Pro 53, three instances of Steinberg Plex, the indispensible Amplitube and the creative interface of Ohmboyz Delay are just some of the plug-ins. Waves Ultra Maximizer and T-Racks 24 were used to round out the sound. The 128kbps MP3 is the preferred medium here. |

I started this track with no expectations or planning. It became something new for me, and each new phrase and sequence I laid down took me beyond any previous compositions. If there was any source of inspiration, I'll have to say I've been on a movement to incorporate vintage synthesizer sounds and aspire to Front 242's sound through the years. Many different instruments and VST plug-ins were used in the making of this song, I'll leave it at that. |
