"Save All My Dreams" tells of my struggle with the music BIZ and the point at which I felt I might throw it all away. I wrote the chorus like a last desperate cry for HELP. It's funny how it sounds like a prayer where I'm looking for answers and at the same time blaming god. This was a great turning point in my writing and in my life. I especially like the reference to The Bitter End, a NYC original music club that puts 5-6 performers on stage every night. Among musicians, it's the ultimate Warholian "15 seconds of fame" (but don't basque in the limelight too long). As Jerry Lee Lewis once said, "I might be going to HELL, but when I do, I'll be going there playing the PIANA" (well, in my case, it's the guitar, but you get the gist of it) P.S. Check out the great dobro playing by Billy Masters on this track. |
