An anxious sampled spoken word (in Italian)opens this scary beat driven number.dnb scene review:"Imagine a time when Metalheadz was the biggest label around and "hardstep mode" didn't mean relentless two-step all the way through with some squelchy analogue bassline noises, and you should have a first idea in which direction we're heading. This track is hard hitting, but it doesn't rely on distorted techno-sounds and fast running two-step beats to be rough. Instead there are some really well programmed twisted beats that should keep feet moving on the floor and are interesting at the same time. Always with a certain groove to it, but never just rolling around. I really dig the vertical edge the beats have, with lots of switching and variations. (...)The bassline has an overdriven dubbish feel to it(...)The rest of the track is filled with hovering noises which create a dark brooding atmosphere. Then there are these voice samples of somebody speaking Italian(...) it surely fits in the track, as it works more as another sound texture than as a "vocal element". (...)All in all a very fine track(...) thumbs up! This is the first track I've heard by Sygo, and it's really promising. Everybody who would like to hear something somewhere between Source Direct beats and dark Digital dubbyness should check this out. " |

dnbscene review:"A bit experimental this one. A good effort at adding some subtle melodies to a techstep track, and it actually works pretty well. There’s also a tasty amount of crunch and distortion on many of the samples … ya know, that hint of high end FM noise, which is a good thing. It’s got a very nice rough feel to it as if it’s been squeezed out of some old but classy synths, and there’s a lot of tweaking all the way through(...)Basically, a nice, different, slightly experimental choon (...)plenty to listen to and some very cheeky melodies. Definitely worth checking out." So take your virtual trip! And watch for your speakers, this 'll be a serious test! |
