For almost a decade, Chaz has been making a mark in the Bay Area hip-hop underground with his own unique brand of sound and music. As a founding member of SFSM (San Francisco Street Music), he gained notoriety in underground circles with his production on classic albums like "Word o' Mouth" and "Still Defiant", music that can be found circulating in tapedecks as far away as Finland. Chaz' more recent work includes production on tracks for Hot Box recording artist Spank Poppa, and collaboration with one of San Francisco's most prolific producers, Big Shawn (Bored Stiff), on his solo album "Home Grown".
Now under the name 5 Fulton Music, Chaz introduces his latest effort , "Ironic City". Seamlessly weaving together a tapestry of stripped-down funk, organic hip-hop, hard-hitting bass lines, and trance-like grooves, Chaz has successfully put together a collection of instrumental tracks that'll leave most heads noddin to the beat, a beat which can only be described as HypnoHop. While songs like title track "Ironic City" lay colorful rhythms over hard hitting drums, the dirty bass and quirky, danceable groove of "Keith Don't Sweat"sounds like the tripped out electro cousin of Rob Base's classic party jam "It Takes Two". In this era of cookie-cutter hip-hop and formulated hits, 5 Fulton Music delivers a smart and original listening experience that takes you on a hypnotic ride through "Ironic City".
