Biography

Not
only the name of the band and the name of a song but literally a way of
life. Very rare In these days of hype over talent. Music is our life
are Anni Hogan and Frances Adie no strangers to the heady
heights of chart success, between them they have both worked with some
of the greatest names in music. Anni most notably as co-writer
of some of Marc Almonds finer moments.
Anni and Frances are keen not to dwell too much in the past
nor on their other collaborations that include Nick Cave, Yello,
Barry
Adamson, The The, Bronski Beat, The Reggae Philharmonic
Orchestra and a host of other big names instead they prefer to talk
about the new garage remix of their track "Music is our life" that
some unknown up and coming dj's ( The Stand and Deliver
Cru) have just finished mixing at their studio in Liverpool.
No strangers to dj-ing themslelves, Anni first booked Soft Cell
to play their first gig when she was dj-ing at Amnesia in Leeds,
that was where she fist met Marc, and Frances and Anni first
met when
Frances
was dj-ing at a Bronski Beat after show
party way back in the 80s.
For the last few years Anni and Frances have been dj-ing
all over Europe and North America (Amsterdam, Italy, Toronto and Montreal) as well as hosting a few club nights in Liverpool, playing an eclectic blend of Dance Music, Film Music and everything in between.
Their first incarnation as a band together was as Cactus Rain back
in the early 90's, Cactus Rain gave us an album called 'In Our Own Time' an album
that cost a small fortune to produce which the record company (Ten records)
then forgot to promote, needless to say no one got to hear the fine record,
that still sounds as fresh today as it did then, it also has one of the
best versions of the classic The Look of love that
you are ever likley to hear.
Cactus Rain, being one of the casualties of another bad record deal
(sounds a familar tale) wanted nothing more to do with the music
industry and retreated to concentrate on dj-ing and more collaborations
with other artists. One of these collaborations came about when they booked
the then unknown Freak Power, an early Fatboy slim incarnation
to play at their club night in Liverpool. Freak Power vocalist Ashley
Slater was the one who grabbed their attention that night, his unique
vocal sound was perfect for the project they were working on at the time,
a Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood tribute album, and so was
born Under the Influence a collection of Nancy and Lee's
songs updated for a new century complete with dance grooves, infectious
arrangments and the occasional scratching. Now Frances's gorgeous
vocals had found the perfect vocal companion to duet with.
Under the influence of Nancy and Lee to give the album its full
title has been in production on and off for the last few years, due to
the artists involved, other commitments, it is now almost complete,
with still a few more tracks to be recorded,
Anni and Frances
hope to have a summer release with it and i must agree it would make perfect
listening on a warm sunny afternoon whilst lounging in the garden or driving
in your car. Perfect for afternoon radio, it really grabs you darlin'.
Another of Music is our life's guises was as the Tennisfanatics
both
of them being avid tennis fans, and sick of hearing the same old
version being played year in, year out, they recorded their own version
of the Wimbldon Championship Theme totally revamping and updating
it. One of their dreams would be to hear their version of the theme
being played on T.V. as Monica Seles is seen holding up the womans
championship trophy. Monica being one of there favourite players.
Music is our life are currently finishing off new tracks for an
album, and are remix-ing the track Music is our life which they
hope to release as their first single, they are itching to get back into
live
performing
again, where they feel more at home," it's the area of the music
industry that we have missed the most in the last few years, we just
cant wait to be performing the songs live. We've had enough of being
couped up in studios. It's time the world knew, Music is our life,
and we want to share it". Expect them at a venue near you soon.
