This song was inspired by the great 20th century existensialist thinker Jean-Paul Sartre. Indeed, the name "Long Way Down" was inspired by his philosophy. Yet Sartre did more than just inspire the band and the songs which made us ever so popular. Get ready for this, you loyal fan, get ready: Sartre, the great thinker himself, wrote this song. After he wrote it I clobbered him with my old Ibanez and then I took the song from him. It just goes to show: You never really know where and when inspiration will come next. Thanks Jean-Paul! |
