This was composed for the Second Annual Young Film Composers Competition. The best way to listen to this piece is to watch it with the video clip available at Turner classics: http://www.turnerclassicmovies.com/music/2001/step_oneclip.htm The music underplays a romantic scene in the woods, where we find 2 lovers sharing a picnic with a lot more on their minds then food! The music opens with the main theme played very nervously as Bezano begins to tell Conseuelo his feelings. This music unfolds through a section of Pizzicato strings and Harp and builds to a climax where they embrace, and we have full Tutti on the main theme. This theme unfolds, and then the music turns into a playful Double-Time section as Bezano chases Conseulo through the woods. When they trip and fall down, the music hits this and again the main theme comes back and we hear the IV chord this time in a poignant minor that drops to the I chord to end the piece. Instrumentation: 2 Flutes, 2 Clarinets in Bb, 2 Horns, Percussion, Harp, Piano, and String Ensemble. |
