Russia has a long standing tradition of performing circus bears. The circus bears' days are long and ardous, and after work they return to the clearing in the woods where they live. After brewing cups of tea and resting for a while, the bears like to unwind by dancing to their own music. They pull out an old 78rpm record and place it on the hand cranked victorola and begin to dance the evening away. This is the song that they dance to. |

This is a traditional Yiddish song that translates as "the Rabbi dances in Palestine". Our arrangement of it is not traditional though, and combines the modern chamber music aesthetic of the Kronos Quartet with the fiery passion of a 3rd world folk ensemble. |
