Southern Anthem written by Daniel D. Emmett in New York City on September 11, 1859 & performed for the first time on the following day. Mrs. John Wood performed Dixie in New Orleans in 1860 & Dixie covered Dixie like the Dew or spread like Wild Fire depending on your poetic point of view.. |
