I wrote this piece for string orchestra when I was 18 (before my Conservatory days). Coming back to it again after many years, I think it shows many of the qualities of my later compositions, particularly the organic growth of the whole from a few very simple motives."Endogeny" means "growth from within" - I wanted the piece to reflect an inner journey: melancholy to agitation to serenity. |
