PITCHBLACK was formed early in 1997 by brothers Shane and Sol Van Der Veur. The band went through many drummers over the years before they met up with with drummer Brett Wood in late 1999. Brett is considered by rockers all over Salt Lake to be one of the best drummers in the valley. After many years as a rock guitar player Shane switched over to bass to form a power trio. With Sol on lead guitar and vocals they play all original songs. The band considers themselves to be alternative but their music spans several musical styles from blues to heavy metal.
