'Disquiet' is aptly named. It opens with faint bird song, probably recorded in the woods near Benway's remote house. Taking the cue from Joy Division's (and New Order's) Peter Hook, this is primarily a bass led affair, complemented by near-military drum loops and floating, ethereal noises which take up the top end of the mix. Benway's half-spoken vocals enter just after half-way through, creating an air of unearthly bedsit paranoia, optimistic depression. Then, seemingly as soon as it has begun, it ends, birdsong echoing round the oddly comforting assurance - 'I am not alone.' |

Indie - punk pop at its best. Incessant, kicking beat, cool as funk bass, buzzsaw guitars and lyrics about Sergio Leone. |
