Things have really begun to heat up since Karen
Tyler pulled up stakes and moved from Austin, Texas
to central California. Tyler had parlayed her
songwriting awards, national festival appearances,
five star reviews, Top 6 national poll results
and brisk CD sales into a buzz so persistent it
could not be swatted away. Still, it wasn't until
Tyler and "Hus-Band", bass player/lap steel player,
Fred Murray moved to the remote outpost of San
Luis Obispo county, that Tyler began to enjoy more
national recognition as well as regional celebrity
status. It has often been said that Karen Tyler
has taken the central California coast by storm.
Soon after the move, Karen was opening for some of
the biggest names in the blues world and was enjoying
glowing reviews and feature articles, including a
Best Bet in the L.A. Times for her first southern
California appearance. Appearances at high profile
festivals brought many new fans to Tyler's camp and
in no time sold out performances and standing ovations
became quite common. Add to that Karen's two
performances on the Texas Music Cafe, a syndicated
television series now playing nationally and
internationally in 140 markets, and 5 months of
charting in the Top 8 on CFRC in Canada and you
have increased CD sales and name recognition worldwide.
