About us...
The Hearth Family began as a group of musicians with a common interest in improvised music & movement, and community drumming & chanting. The family-style jamming led to various local performances, and finally to the Hearth Tent- a comfortable, non-restrictive environment where anyone can sit in and enjoy the pleasure of a musical exchange on a community level. The Tent is filled with an exciting collection of instruments from around the world, including a variety of drums, strings, and tuned gongs, most of which can be played by anyone. The music goes all day and is hosted by the Hearth Family who also supply the instruments. The Hearth Tent has been a regular attraction located amongst the vendors at the Mateel Community Center's Summer Arts & Music Festival at Benbow Lake, CA for the last three years. Ask for the Tent at a festival near you.
