The Modern Rhythm Band was formed in 1982 by Don Story and John Gunderson(aka Johnny Gun). The current lineup came together in early 1999 simply to have a weekly "boys night out". That all changed when KGB Radio offered them a slot on stage at KGB's Skyshow 24 at Qualcomm Stadium! They've had steady work since then, playing a wide variety of gigs and locales, including San Diego's New Year's Eve 1999 "Millennium Bash" in Balboa Park, where they played a rousing set in a torrential downpour! Modern Rhythm has also performed at Earthfest 2000, Oktoberfest 1999, OMBAC's 2000 Summer Beach Party, The San Diego Festival of Beers and also at clubs such as Blind Melon's, The Ould Sod, Rosie O'Grady's, Tio Leo's and Island Sports and Spirits. The Modern Rhythm Band play a wide range of blues, swing and rock numbers dating from the 1940's to the present. The are, above all, a PARTY band!

This is our concert version of one of the first rock and roll songs. It's by T.Bone Walker (he recorded it around 1945), who was a huge influence on Chuck Berry. The rest is obvious history, no? |
