THE DOMES OF SILENCE - trying to get you
Sit back smoke a spliff, drop some acid and stick on The Dome of Silence's 'Trying To Get You', you can feel it man... your back stage at a Doors gig. Formerly Pornshow, TDOS are your answer to your dads argument that cool ended in the 60's.
The track first imposes itself on you with a huge chugging bassline, before Sean unleashes his sleazy vocal hooks. A thoroughbred Rock 'n' Roll anthemic chorus swaggers with all the confidence of Sean Ryder on Coke and leaves you wondering why we would ever need The Strokes to come over here. All in all this track does what it says on the can or at least does who TDOS list as influences, which includes Las Vegas generally.
Currently in the studio an album is due to be finished in 2002

...................debut album.................... sounds like voodoo 2002.Containing 11 blistering alternative/darkrock tunes.... 'THE DOMES OF SILENCE' "So very nearly demo of the month for their name alone. Worthy too for its use of monstrously meaty old metal riffs and ... its odd fusion of styles. Tarnished Evidence for example somehow fuses strangely off-key Sabbath-like guitar noise onto lounge-style deep-throat crooning that sounds like some evil, leering rock pig doing a turn at Caesars Palace. The rich, treacly vocals work best on Selfless, with its darkly-inclined gothic funk edge and Manzarek-style organ hum. The whole thing is almost Doors-like throughout and scores extra bonus points for lasting six and a half minutes without ever getting boring - just as youre starting to think it could do to stretch its musical wings a little it gently suffocates you with its stark gravity. Which is nice. By the time they get to Lost Weekend, The Domes of Silence (who used to be Pornshow until very recently) have started injecting serrated Fall-like guitar riffs into proceedings, whilst retaining that Sabbath-esque heaviness.
